Two In-Season Teams
Each of the 16 owners drafts two NHL teams for the In-Season Cup, accounting for all 32 NHL teams.
Carolina Starts With the Cup
The Carolina Hurricanes begin the NHL regular season holding the Cup.
Any Loss Transfers the Cup
Whenever the current Cup-holding team loses a regular-season game, the Cup immediately transfers to the NHL team that beat it. Regulation, overtime and shootout losses all count.
Final Holder Wins
The owner whose NHL team holds the Cup at the end of the NHL regular season wins the In-Season Cup.
A Separate Competition
Each owner receives one NHL playoff team through a random draw after the 16 playoff teams are set. Regular-season team ownership and In-Season Cup results have no bearing on which Post-Season team an owner receives. The Post-Season Cup is completely independent of the In-Season Cup, and there are no game-by-game Cup transfers.
Stanley Cup Winner
The owner whose playoff team wins the Stanley Cup wins the Post-Season Cup.
$1,000 — In-Season Champion
The owner whose NHL team holds the Cup at the end of the regular season receives $1,000.
$340 — Most Cup Wins
The owner whose teams successfully win the most games while holding the In-Season Cup receives $340.
$100 — Least Cup Time
The owner whose teams accumulate the least total Cup-holder time during the regular season receives $100. This is based on total possession time, not the shortest individual reign.
$160 — Outfit & Incidentals
$160 of the pool is reserved for the caddie outfit and related incidentals.
Final Runner-Up Caddies
The owner whose team loses in the Stanley Cup Final provides caddie services to the Post-Season Cup winner.
